Methylene Blue, or MB, is a powerful antioxidant. Oxidative stress to the body is a strong correlate to cancer, the bodies ability to fight off infections, neurological deficits, the list goes on. Therefore, MB began to be studied in mice to assess its ability to reduce oxidative stress. One area in which it was particularly studied was cognitive function, not only because it is an antioxidant, but because it was found to easily cross the blood brain barrier. Some studies even show, that with consistent use, MB could enhance memory and slow aging. MB has also been tested for skin advantages as well, and was found to “delay skin aging, increase cell longevity, protect skin from UV exposure and accelerate skin healing”. For this reason, Sabbath began to formulate ways to incorporate it into our products.
